January 1, 2025

Coptic paintings of the Virgin Mary are rare, but available through the British Library and a manuscript in the Internet Archive.

The British Library has a blog post with images of and information about Egyptian Christian Nativity images from two Coptic Bibles at the British Library, Or 1316 and Or 1317.

The blog includes nine images.

One is the depiction of the Nativity in the Gospel of Luke. (Gospels. Egypt, 1663. Or 1316, f 117r)
